January Prompts

Winter Bones

Download Printable A4

January is the month of what remains.

The garden is stripped back to its bones, branches bare, soil resting, structures revealed.

This is a time for noticing shape, line, texture, and the quiet architecture of winter.
What holds when everything else falls away.

You might notice:
bare stems and seed heads
frosted ground and winter light
paths, walls, pots, gates, and tools
the stillness between movements

There is no rush to make something finished or beautiful.
This month is about slowing down and seeing what is already there.

Draw if you like.
Write if you prefer.
Simply notice if that’s all you can manage.

Winter shows us the bones first.
